Halal Information
Sonic Drive-In is a domestic American chain.
There is only one Sonic location that has added any halal items to its menu.
The Sonic Drive-In restaurant at 10403 Ford Rd. in Dearborn Michigan is the first to provide food catering to Muslims.
The owner of this branch, Tom Fakih, said “Fifty percent of the population in Dearborn is of Muslim descent. We researched it, and we looked into it, and figured that in order to make it, you have to serve both halal and non-halal.”
Unfortunately, other Sonic Drive In branches in the USA do not serve halal meat!
However, there are many non-meat items on the Sonic Drive In menu which halal observers can consume, such as their
- Beverages – such as Churro Shake & Lemonade Slush
- Desserts – such as their Caramel Sundae, Pretzel Twists & Cinnabon Cinnasnacks, and
- Snacks such as Churros, Onion Rings, Chili Cheese Tots.
Halal Caveat
You should always verify the halal status with the restaurant directly just to be sure!
Restaurants change their meat suppliers and their policies constantly.
Furthermore, individual franchise locations change ownership all the time. So one location’s owner can use halal meat but can sell it to a new owner who chooses not to. So, to make sure that you have the latest information — reach out to the establishment!
